WHAT IS A PRINT-READY FILE?

A print-ready file is a digital file that meets all necessary specifications for printing, without requiring further adjustments. It ensures that the final printed product matches the intended design.

A PERFECT PRINT FILE INCLUDES:

1. High Resolution
Images and graphics should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for sharp, clear printing.

2. Correct Colour Mode
The file should be in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) rather than RGB, as CMYK is the standard colour mode for printing.

3. Bleed Data and Margins
If the design extends to the edges of the page, it must include a bleed area (usually 0.125 inches or 3mm) to prevent white edges after trimming. Safe margins should also be considered to avoid important content being cut off.

4. Correct File Format
Common print-ready file formats include PDF (preferred), TIFF, AI, and EPS.

5. Embedded or Outlined Fonts
Fonts should either be embedded (to ensure accurate rendering) or converted to outlines (to prevent font substitution).

6. Flattened Transparencies
To avoid printing issues, layers and transparencies should be flattened, especially in complex designs.

7. Trim and Crop Marks
These marks help printers cut the document accurately to its final size.
